School and Library Visits

Daphne was a teacher in grades 3-8 for 20 years and is happy to customize her presentations/workshops if requested.

Library Presentations:

For the first year that her debut novel is out in the world (until June 19, 2019) Daphne will present at New England libraries at no cost. Daphne’s 60-minute presentation including a discussion of researching life in Vermont in the 1920’s, the art of taxidermy and how it crept into her novel, a reading and a question and answer period.

School Presentations:

I am available for 30-minute Skype visits with classrooms of students at no cost.

For the first year that her debut novel is out in the world (until June 19, 2019) Daphne will present at schools in New England for a reduced rate of $300 a day plus mileage. Please contact her for prices for classroom visits outside of New England. A one-day visit includes a large group talk and three classroom presentations or four classroom presentations. School visits are much more productive if students have read her book in advance.

Book talk, grade 3-6, school-wide or smaller group:

Daphne will read from her book, talk about the writing process, researching Vermont in the 20’s, the art of taxidermy, ending with a question and answer period. (45 minutes to an hour)

Small Group writing workshop grade 3-6:

Using examples from both picture books and novels, including her own, Daphne will talk about character development, point of view, pacing and story structure followed by writing exercises and sharing. She will gear her workshops to the grade level of individual classrooms.  (45 minutes)
